Chris, master pastellist

Chris was born in Ozoir-la-Ferrière in 1947. After training as a decorative painter, he started painting in 1967 and exhibited as an amateur in the 1980s. He became a professional in 1990, painting in oils until he met Jean-Pierre MERAT, Master Pastellist and President of the Société des Pastellistes de France. A turning point which made him change his technique in favour of pastel. In 1990 he was appointed Master Pastellist by his peers and became Commissioner of the Salons of the Société des Pastellistes de France.
A specialist in flowers, still lifes and seascapes, he teaches in the Pastellist schools of France. Some of his bouquets have been reproduced by the Aubusson Tapestries. He has also been published in various art magazines. His paintings have enriched collections in several countries.
A total of fifteen works in oils and pastels will be exhibited. An opportunity to discover an artistic universe, but also the chapel of Kervalet, jewel of the Batzian heritage, built in the 15th century on a rock emerging from the marshes of Batz-sur-Mer.

Opening of the exhibition on 9 July at 6.30pm.

Come and see a work being created live!

The artist will also offer a pastel demonstration on Saturday 10 July at 4pm in the Jean Fréour space. Limited capacity, public seated and masked, on registration at the Tourist Office. The artist will create a painting from a bouquet of flowers composed by the agents of the commune's green spaces department.
