Artist-statuary (1919-2010) "From sculpture to 3D experimentation".
In 2023, the Musée des Marais Salants is paying tribute to the sculptor Jean FRÉOUR. The museum has been able to acquire plaster statuettes, a wooden bas-relief and Lilo, the last unfinished studio stone. Some of the artist's tools, documentation, photographic notebooks and almost 3,000 negatives have also been saved. This little-known collection provides an insight into the skills of Jean FRÉOUR, a statuary artist and the last member of the Breton artistic movement "Ar Seiz Breur", founded in 1923. The exhibition is divided into two areas that bring his studio back to life. The first space, punctuated by original works, is devoted to the stages in the process of creating sculpture. The second is dedicated to virtual experiments, featuring 3D digitised statues and casts. The project has been selected as part of the 2023 National Programme for the Digitisation and Promotion of Cultural Content launched by the French Ministry of Culture. Its aim is to bring artworks closer to the public and to create innovative digital uses for culture and heritage.
